Braunwald
Another decently popular area for the Swiss to head to for the weekend I did this hike with a friend as a day trip from Zurich.
The hike itself is pretty straightforward. To start you take the Braunwaldbahn up from the train station at Linthal to Braunwald, which is a car free resort, and then you take another cable car up to Gumen. There's plenty of little restaurants scattered around that you can get food at before or after hiking. At the top there's also a place where you can rent equipment to try out a via ferrata which I think would be a pretty fun thing to do in the area.
For the hike itself there isn't much to add besides the map. It's pretty straightforward, and despite the large amount of decline it's pretty gradual so it's not terrible on the knees. When we did the hike it was very dry and it was late August and so the small lake which was supposed to be a highlight of the route had completely dried. There will probably be some cows roaming around the trail, and the high point takes you up past some rocks that look like Gary the Snail and avalanche protection infrastructure.
The hike is okay, but I think there are better options in Glarus, and so I don't recommend this as a must see hiking destination. There may also be better routes to do out of Braunwald which could provide some more interesting sights.
